Mission Mangal is an upcoming Hindi movie based on the true events of the Mars Orbiter Mission launched by the Indian Space Research Organisation ( ISRO ). Also, it is loosely based on the story of scientists at the Indian Space Research Organisation who contributed to the Mars Orbiter Mission, which marked India’s first interplanetary expedition. The story is not based on any single person or we can say there no single hero in this film, the entire team is behind the mission.

Mission Mangal is the first directed film by Jagan Shakti, who has assisted AR Murugadoss on Holiday (2014) and Akira (2016) and R Balki on Pad Man (2018). The cast includes Akshay Kumar as the chief, Vidya Balan, Taapsee Pannu, Nithya Menen, Kirti Kulhari, Sonakshi Sinha and Sharman Joshi.

Rajiv Hari Om Bhatia (born 9 September 1967), known professionally as Akshay Kumar, is an Indian-born Canadian actor, producer, television personality, martial artist, stuntman and philanthropist who works in Bollywood films. In a career spanning over 29 years, Kumar has appeared in over 100 films and has won several awards, including the National Film Award for Best Actor for his performance in Rustom (2016), and two Filmfare Awards for Ajnabee (2001) and Garam Masala (2005).

Vidya Balan  born 1 January 1979 is an Indian actress. Known for pioneering a change in the portrayal of women in Hindi cinema with her roles in female-led films, she is the recipient of several awards, including a National Film Award and six Filmfare Awards. She was awarded the Padma Shri by the Government of India in 2014.

Taapsee Pannu (born 1 August 1987) is an Indian actress known for her work in TeluguTamil and Hindi films. Taapsee worked as a software professional and pursued a career in modelling before becoming an actress. During her modelling career, she appeared in a number of commercials.

Nithya Menen born 8 April 1988 is a multilingual Indian film actress and playback singer. She primarily works in South Indian films, where she has established herself as a leading actress. She is recipient of three Filmfare Awards for the Telugu films Gunde Jaari GallanthayyindeMalli Malli Idi Rani Roju and Mersal in Tamil.

After making her acting debut as a child in the 1998 English film The Monkey Who Knew Too Much, Nithya played her first supporting role in Kannada film 7 O' Clock. She made her debut in leading role in Malayalam with Akasha Gopuram, Telugu with Ala modalaindiand Tamil with 180.

Kirti Kulhari is an Indian actress and model who appears in Bollywood films. After post-graduating with a degree in journalism and mass communication, Kulhari made her acting debut in an Odia film Dharini in 2002. Her first Bollywood appearance was in Khichdi: The Movie in 2010, followed by a role in Shaitaan in 2011. She then appeared in successful films such as Pink (2016), Indu Sarkar (2017), Blackmail (2018) and Uri: The Surgical Strike (2019).

Sharman Joshi (born 28 April 1979) is an Indian film and theatre actor. He has worked on and directed stage productions in English, HindiMarathi and Gujarati languages, but is mostly known for his work in Hindi films. He made his acting debut in Godmother (1999). He made his debut as a co-lead actor in the Nagamese film Style (2001); this was followed by supporting roles in hit films such as Rang De Basanti (2006), Golmaal (2006), Life in a... Metro (2007), 3 Idiots (2009), Ferrari Ki Sawaari (2012), Hate Story 3 (2015), and 1920 London (2016). 

Sonakshi Sinha born 2 June 1987) is an Indian film actress. She is the daughter of actors Shatrughan Sinha and Poonam Sinha. After working as a costume designer in her early career, Sinha made her acting debut in the action-drama film Dabangg (2010), which won her the Filmfare Award for Best Female Debut.

Harihar Gundurao Dattatreya (born 1942), popularly known as Dattanna, is an Indian actor who has appeared in over 80 films and several plays. Alongside his career as an actor, he served in the Indian Air Force for over 25 years and also occupied academic positions with Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL). He is best known for his work in Kannada cinema, in which he appears in mostly supporting roles. In a film career of almost three decades, he has won two National Film Award – Special Jury Awards, one National Film Award for Best Supporting Actor and two Karnataka State Film Awards. He is known for his performances in Munnudi (2000), Bettada Jeeva (2011) and Bharath Stores (2012).
