Our Verdict
The printer is quite good for family use. HP Officejet Pro 8035e has good color accuracy that delivers great photo quality. Sometimes it may get difficult to spot details in photos but that’s not a big deal. The printer provides a high-resolution flatbed scanner which is great for scanning old photos and documents.
HP Officejet Pro 8035e is okay for small office use. But we only recommend offices that have medium to low printing requirements.
Also Great
The page yield of the printer is not so high so it may cost you much if you have high printing requirements. We like the printer’s build quality it is strong, attractive, and compact it will not cover much space.
HP 8035e printer offers good connectivity options. Whereas we don’t recommend this printer for black-and-white photo printing because of its terrible printing quality. ADF (automatic document feeder) option is available which is good for scanning long documents but it doesn’t have a duplex scanning capacity you have to do it manually.

The HP Officejet Pro 8035e printer has good build quality. The printer body is made up of strong plastic which feels solid and smooth. From the top of the printer, you can access paper jams. The front paper tray is not easy to open and close which can be frustrating. And also don’t try to lift the scanner lid too much otherwise it may come out from its hinges which can be difficult to realign if you try to close it. But you can raise the scanner lid enough to scan thick documents.

The display screen is placed at the front for clear visibility. HP Officejet Pro 8035e has a great clean, clear, and color display screen. The display screen has a great viewing angle with decent responsiveness. No matter if you are standing or sitting because of its vertical tilt you can see the screen easily. Other than that the printer’s physical buttons are good and responsive.

The HP 8035e printer has an okay cartridge system. We have noticed that the black ink cartridge runs out of ink more quickly than the color ink cartridge. The printer delivers an average printing output. But as an inkjet printer, it can deliver that much you cannot expect more from this type of printer.

The automatic document feeder feature is good for scanning multiple documents at a time. The printer provides high scanning resolution which scans the documents with fine clarity. The scanner lid goes enough high to scan thick documents but carefully don’t pull the scanner lid very much as it is prone to coming out of hinges and it is quite difficult to put it back correctly.

The printer cost-per-print ratio is okay. The black cartridge yield is low compared to the color cartridge. So, you may need a frequent replacement of the black cartridge. Whereas, if you don’t mind buying your next cartridge you can sign up for HP Instant ink. You pay a monthly fee to HP and HP monitors your ink usage as your cartridge starts running low HP will send you the next one.
The printing speed of the printer is good. Both color and black document print out takes the nearly same time. The first-page printout takes a little bit more time. The input tray capacity is very good you don’t need to refill it frequently.
The HP Officejet Pro 8035e delivers great color accuracy than HP 8035. The printer delivers excellent picture quality. We find the printer provides a vibrant color printout with excellent details. Whereas there is some banding in the grayscale but that doesn’t affect it very much.
Overall, if you are looking for a printer that can print color photos with decent quality then sure you can opt for this printer. Still, we want to suggest that it is good not to choose the printer for professional-level printing quality.

However, the HP Officejet Pro 8035e is an inkjet printer that doesn’t have an ink tank instead of that it uses a cartridge system. So, you will get a low page yield compared to an ink tank printer. But you don’t need to worry as this is normal with all inkjet printers. If you have high printing requirements then we always recommend laser printers.
