Canon Pixma E477

Best multifunction inkjet printer

The Canon Pixma E477 is the best multifunction inkjet printer. The color and monochrome printing quality are superb. But it is a cartridge printer it doesn’t hold much color so it will not provide you with a good page yield the printing cost is much higher compared to the best ink tank printer but the initial cost will be very much low.

Type: All-in-one (print, copy, scan)
Technology: Ink Efficient
Wireless: Yes
Color: Yes
Ink tank: No
Price: ₹5,499.00 (price may change with time, place, and situation)

Pros

  • Good build quality.
  • Color accuracy is outstanding.
  • Good connectivity options.

Cons

  • The printing speed is a bit slow.

What is the overall performance score of the Canon Pixma E477?

The overall score of the Canon Pixma E477 all-in-one printer is okay but could be more impressive and that is much you can expect from a cartridge inkjet printer. Compared to ink tank printers cartridge inkjet printers have slow printing speed and low page yield.

The printing quality of the Canon Pixma E477 printer is decent black and white printing is very good color printouts come out with accurate colors but as always not suitable for professional photo printing for that we always recommend the best ink tank photo printers you can check our favorite HP Smart Tank 670 wireless multifunction printer.

The only good thing we noticed is that the purchase price of the printer is very much less compared to an ink tank printer and if you maintain the cartridge printer systematically it will deliver quite a long service life. But remember these printers are not the best economical printers though they have low purchase prices running cost is much higher than ink tank printers.

The Canon Pixma E477 Printer is Best for which type of usage?

The Canon Pixma E477 is best for home use you can use it for other conditions but we will not recommend it as this printer is not at all best for high printing jobs. The printer pulls high printing costs so if it is used by teachers, students, or shop owners it will break their budget. So, use this printer for low to mid-range printing requirements.

Our Verdict

According to us, Canon Pixma E477 is a great choice for home and family and also for students. We don’t think it is good for offices or for those who have high volume printing requirements because the printing costs are high but if you are looking for quality printing then surely go for that.

Look, you have to understand the printer’s nature. Every type of printer ( Inktank, Inkjet, or Laser printer) has advantages and disadvantages. It is not that ink-efficient printers are not worth buying. These printers are famous for their printing quality, low maintenance, and low buying cost.

So, if you are looking for an affordable printer for your home, family, or for a kid’s education then we give you a thumbs up. Now let’s get down and check the Canon Pixma E477 Review.

Canon Pixma E477 Printer Specification And Review

This printer delivers high color accuracy and decent photo printing quality. The printing speed of Canon Pixma E477 is not so high but you don’t need to worry, it is common in inkjet printers. We don’t recommend you print black and white photos as the output quality is horrible. The printer provides decent connectivity options wired and wireless.

Canon Pixma E477

Design

Height: 14.5 cm
Width: 30.6 cm
Depth: 42.6 cm
Weight: 3.5 kg

We like the build quality of the Canon Pixma E477. The entire printer is made up of strong and solid plastic, the printer is compact and it will not occupy much space. The power cable is detachable; you can replace it when it gets damaged. The printer doesn’t have a paper tray but it comes with a rear feeder which doesn’t hold much paper. The scanner quality is good but you cannot raise it very much to scan thick documents.

Display Screen

The printer doesn’t come with any kind of display. Instead of that, it is stacked with several buttons which perform different functions directly.

Cartridge

Photo Cartridge: No
The Number Of Color Cartridges:
Third-Party Cartridge: No
Drum Unit: No
Estimated Black Page Yield: 400
Estimated Color Page Yield: 180
Compatible Ink Bottle: PG47 (BK), CL57s (Cyan, Magenta, Yellow)

The printer has a decent cartridge system that yields enough pages compared to other ink-advantage printers. We suggest you use original ink cartridges; they will provide you with many facilities from Canon. PG47 and CL57s are two compatible ink cartridges.

Scanner

Scanner: Yes
Scan Flatbed: Yes
Duplex Scanning: No
Scan Resolution: 600DPI
Scan Color Depth: 24 bit
Copy Feature: Yes

The Canon Pixma E477 printer’s scanning quality is decent but it doesn’t provide many features. The printer doesn’t provide an Automatic document feeder and duplex scanning feature but it has a Flatbed scanner with great color depth and resolution.

As you cannot expect much in this price range, we don’t think ADF and Auto Duplex features are essential for home and low-volume printing requirements. The scanner’s hinges cannot be raised much for scanning thick documents.

Printing Cost And Speed

Cost-Per-Print

Subscription: No
Black Only Printing: Rs 1.4/print
Color Printing: Rs 4/print
Photo Printing: Rs 18/print

The printer cost per print ratio is okay, we will not say that it is very good or bad that much is expected from an inkjet printer. But if you are looking for more cost-effective printers, we suggest checking out Canon Pixma G2012 and Canon G3010

Remember if you get your black ink cartridge exhausted before the color ink cartridge then be sure to replace it immediately because if you keep printing black and white documents without replacing the black cartridge the printer will use your color cartridge.

Printing Speed

Black/White Text Document: 8 PPM
Color Document: 4 PPM
Photo Printing: 120 sec (Borderless)
Photo Printing: 80 sec (4 x 6″)

The printing speed of the Canon Pixma E477 is decent and very much similar to HP 4178 Ink Efficient printer. This is very natural for this type of printer; they take a while to print black or coloring pages.

Photo Printing Quality And Color Depth

Borderless Printing: Yes

The Canon Pixma E477 printer has excellent color accuracy and superb printing quality. The quality is good enough for printing photos, presentations, and projects. Unfortunately, the printer doesn’t provide borderless printing. But the images appear less grainy and show much more detail. You will get crisp, clear, detailed, and glossy picture quality.

Best Alternative of Canon Pixma E477 Printer

Best Alternative
HP Deskjet 2778 Review

HP 2778

The HP Deskjet Ink Advantage 2778 is the best alternate option if you don’t like the Canon Pixma E477 printer. The HP 2778 is an advanced wireless cartridge printer with nearly the same printing cost but a bit better printing speed. The HP 2778 printer has dark, crisp, clear monochrome and decent color prints. Whereas both printers are not suitable for any type of high printing using this printer is best for home use where you don’t print frequently. A cartridge deskjet printer is great in every way but a major drawback is the printing cost and that can be a deal breaker for many buyers. But with that, they also come with a good factor their purchase price is very much low compared to any other type of printer.
